چکیده

We investigate Andreev reflection (AR) resonant tunneling through a precessing spin which is coupled to a normal metallic lead and a superconducting lead. The formula of the AR conductance at zero temperature is obtained as a function of chemical potential and azimuthal angle of the spin precessing by using the nonequilibrium Green function method. It is found that as the local spin precesses in a weak external magnetic field at Larmor frequency ωl, the AR tunneling conductance exhibits an oscillation at the frequency 2ωl alone. The amplitude of AR conductance oscillation enhances with spin-flip tunneling coupling increasing. The study also shows that spin-orbit interaction in tunneling barriers is crucial for the oscillations of AR conductance. The effect of spin-flip tunneling coupling caused by spin-orbit interaction and local spin precessing on resonant behavior of the AR conductance are examined.

A proposed experimental diagnosing of specular Andreev reflection using the spin orbit interaction

Based on the Dirac-Bogoliubov-de Gennes equation, we theoretically investigate the chirality-resolved transport properties through a superconducting heterojunction in the presence of both the Rashba spin orbit interaction (RSOI) and the Dresselhaus spin orbit interaction (DSOI). Our results show that, if only the RSOI is present, the chirality-resolved Andreev tunneling conductance can be enhan...

Nonequilibrium effects in a Josephson junction coupled to a precessing spin

We present a theoretical study of a Josephson junction consisting of two s-wave superconducting leads coupled over a classical spin. When an external magnetic field is applied, the classical spin will precess with the Larmor frequency. This magnetically active interface results in a time-dependent boundary condition with different tunneling amplitudes for spin-up and spin-down quasiparticles an...

Majorana fermion induced resonant Andreev reflection.

We describe experimental signatures of Majorana fermion edge states, which form at the interface between a superconductor and the surface of a topological insulator. If a lead couples to the Majorana fermions through electron tunneling, the Majorana fermions induce resonant Andreev reflections from the lead to the grounded superconductor. The linear tunneling conductance is 0 (2e(2)/h) if there...

Probing Ferromagnets with Andreev Reflection

High transmissivity, ferromagnet-superconductor thin film nanocontacts are studied experimentally. Compared to nonmagnetic metal-superconductor contacts, Andreev reflection is strongly suppressed due to the spin polarization of conduction electrons in the ferromagnet. This effect is used to measure both the transparency of the interface and spin polarization of the direct current in the ferroma...

Resonant tunneling through Andreev levels

We use a semiclassical approach for analysing the tunneling transport through a normal conductor in contact with superconducting mirrors. Our analysis of the electron-hole propagation along semiclassical trajectories shows that resonant transmission through Andreev levels is possible resulting in an excess, low-energy quasiparticle contribution to the conductance. The excess conductance oscilla...
